Graduates were all smiles on Friday, May 10, 2024 as more than 500 Southern Crescent Technical College students celebrated their graduation during the annual commencement ceremonies held at New Hope Baptist Church – North Campus in Fayetteville, Georgia.

Southern Crescent Technical College President Dr. Irvin Clark offered words of praise and encouragement as he addressed all graduates and recognized them for their achievements. “We are so proud of what our students have accomplished,” said Dr. Clark. “Graduation is a special time where we are able to celebrate the culmination of our students’ hard work and persistence. I am confident that Southern Crescent Technical College has provided them with the skills and education they need to launch successful careers and build productive lives.”

Because of the large number of graduates participating, Southern Crescent Technical College hosted two ceremonies which primarily honored credit and adult education graduates from Summer 2023, Fall 2023, and Spring 2024. Delivering the commencement address for the morning ceremony was Edward Johnson, Mayor of Fayetteville. Niki Vanderslice, President and CEO of the Fayette County Development Authority was the keynote speaker for the afternoon ceremony.  Both delivered a heartfelt charge to graduates and congratulated them, challenging them to continue their path of success.  They communicated words of support and wisdom as they achieve success in both their personal and professional life.

Graduates from all Allied Health, Arts and Sciences, and Computer Information Systems programs participated in the morning ceremony and graduates from Business, Film Technology, Professional Services, First Responder, Technical and Industrial Technology Programs, as well as Adult Education programs participated in the afternoon ceremony.

This fiscal year to date, Southern Crescent Technical College has awarded over 1,500 duplicated credentials to students who have completed requirements for Associate Degrees, Diplomas and Technical Certificates of Credit.  That number will continue to rise over the coming months as the Spring Semester ends and more graduation applications are processed.

Clark continued, “The commencement ceremonies were certainly a time for celebration as students were rewarded for both their achievements and sacrifices in their pursuit of their educational goals and dreams.  The graduates have worked diligently for this great accomplishment and should be commended for their dedication to education. I look forward to following these graduates as they embark on the next phase of their life journey.”
